Paranormal Activity 2

July 2, 2010

Here is the trailer for the upcoming sequal to Paranormal Activity. I remember when I saw the first one at the Cinema, a lot of people found it very frightening, it was very successful. The film only had small budget of $15,000, but pulled in over $100 million.

The House of the Devil

June 22, 2010

This was a film that really was a throwback to 80′s horror, from the way its was filmed to the way the characters were portrayed, even the opening credits reminiscent of that made 30 years ago.

It begins with Samantha who desperately needs some money to afford the rent for her new apartment, she comes across an add requesting a babysitter from 9pm till 12:30am. She’s approved for the job, on the night she and her friend Megan travel to the isolated house in the sticks. They are greeted by Mr. Ulman who has definitly got a creepy arua surrounding him. Mr Ulman soon comes clean and discloses that, he doesnt need a baby sat, but needs a sitter for his Wifes Mother, Megan quickly thinks thats bizarre and trys to get Samantha to leave but she thinks its “to good to be true”, and Megan leaves by herself.

From this point in the film to the end there really isnt anything frighteningly scary, but it is very suspenseful, she’s in the house all alone, Samantha is now a little creeped. She trys to watch TV but doesn’t like the horror, orders a pizza and is even frightened of the delivery guy.

Toward the end it does take a turn and get bloody, she does have to fight for her life, and try and escape the satanic Mr. and Mrs. Ulman and the ultra creepy Mother. It had plenty of headshots, and one in particular which made me jump, and some bloody throat slices and some creepy camera work.

It was good i really loved the 80′s feel to it. It is worth checking out.

I really thought this scene captured the 80′s very well.

Survival of the Dead

June 3, 2010

This is the newest zombie flick by George A. Romero. This will be the 6th film in his “Dead” saga. In this movie the story still follows the similar Path, try and survive the zombie apocolypse. It takes place on an island where 2 families have different views on how to handle the zombies, The O’Flynns think “what is dead should stay dead” the Muldoons think infected loves ones should be kept alive until a cure is found, the disagreement escalates, the O’Flynns are kicked off the island where a 3rd group of soldiers run into the O’Flynns, (who actually steal from the people on the bus in the previous film) band together and try and take back the island.

While watching i kind of felt that they were feuding and throwing off cheesy one liners more the killing zombies, and when they did kill it was comedic, which kind of took away the horror. It wasn’t scary, not even thrilling. There really isnt much more to say. If your a fan of Romero check it out, if your not, your not missing anything.

The Girlfriend Experience

May 17, 2010

This was an interesting film, it stars Sasha Grey as Chelsea who plays a high end escort in Manhattan. This pseudodocumentary style film Follows chelsea over 5 non-consecutive days as she offers the “Girlfriend Expirence” to her clients, whom of most are very succesfull, and for the $2000 an hour she charges she will becoming anything they desire. The film also follows as she discusses new investements, the design of her webpage, a journalist interviewing her about her life, and the stresses being an escort can have on relationships.

Througout the movie it was filmed as a fictional documentary with the shaky camera effect to give the veiwer the perception of reality. Some of the locations shot were very lush hotel rooms, glimpses of new york, high end resturants and SOHO style shops.

This is one freaky movie. Two girls are on a road trip through Germany, when driving along they get a flat tyre, out in the bush, in the wet, they require assistance, they go looking for it, and find an isolated villa. The next day they awake and find themselves in a basement hospital, along with a japanese man. The man who lives at the villa, once a surgeon who specialized in separating siamese twins, want to undertake a horrific operation and join the three patients together, creating a human centipede.
